My leadership journey |
Welcome!
Hello! Thank you for visiting my website! My name is Allyson Rennie and I am a recent graduate from the University of Washington, Tacoma. I graduated this June of 2017 and received my B.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences: Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice.
I am currently working as a research assistant on an undergraduate research team in the psychology department on campus. In our lab, our studies focus on food decision making and the behaviors and components that drive these choices. This year, my team and I worked on a particular study that investigated individual implicit preferences for sugar-sweetened beverages. I am passionate about doing research and I wanted to use this passion and my knowledge of an interesting field in psychology, as a way to utilize my leadership. After graduating from UWT, I am currently appling to doctoral programs in Applied Developmental Psychology with a career goal of teaching in higher education. Therefore, conducting research and being a leader throughout the process will be something that is required of me in my future. I am thankful that it is something I love to do.
That is why I became involved in the University of Washington, Tacoma's Lead Engage and Develop (LEAD) program. This program is an excellent way to build, develop, and promote individual leadership skills. Through the attendance of various workshops and meetings with my mentor, I was able to utilize both the work I had been doing in my research lab and the leadership skills I had been acquiring to develop a project. This project was designed to not only showcase my leadership, but to educate and inspire those in the community.
This website is a way to share with you my leadership journey thoughout the year. So please feel free to look around! Check out my leadership development blog, leadership philosophy, the attitude, values, and skills that I find important regarding leadership, and my leadership in action.
Also feel free to access my about page and let me know if you have any questions or just want to chat!
I hope you enjoy.
Thank you,
Allyson Rennie
